We reduce hunger and academic risk facing elementary children by providing healthy meals to build strong minds.
Food for Thought is a local grassroots non-profit based on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In our tourist based community it is hard to believe that more than 1/3 of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Food for Thought provides weekend food for children in our communities who qualify through the school system lunch program. Each week during the school year volunteers pack and deliver over 400 bags of food to schools in a 100 mile radius. Since we are an entirely volunteer organization all donations are used to provide and deliver food to our 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools as well as daycare and preschools in our community. We also provide personal care items such as shampoo and deoderant to 3 high schools in our area. During this difficult year Food for Thought has gone over and beyond by providing over 600 bags of food each week to any child who is hungry as well as gift cards to families in need. Please help us to continue this important work!

JudiflakSince the onset of Covid 19 the assistance Food for Thought provides is needed more than ever. We are now doubling the number of children we feed. Food for Thought is an all volunteer organization and any donations go toward food purchases for hungry kids.
