We organize shelter for the homeless in the Outer Banks, also providing hospitality, food, and support services.
OBX ROOM IN THE INN provides food, shelter and other necessary resources for the local homeless population during the colder months of the year (Nov.-April). Other services provided include medical and dental care, counseling, transportation to and from work, clothing, laundry and showers. 2020 has been especially challenging with social distancing and pandemic concerns because this population has nowhere to go. We are currently working to secure a permanent facility in order to better address our growing needs. Please help by voting for OBX ROOM IN THE INN.

RitiobxI would like to nominate OBX Room in the Inn to be the charity of month. We are proceeding with our plans to house guests this fall and could certainly use this Grant to help with our many expenses for housing. Thank you for considering OBX Room in the Inn for your vote.

RitiobxOBX Room in the Inn is serving our community by having a place for homeless women and men to come and get the help they need to become independent. Our shelter season opens November 1, 2021 and will be open until April 15, 2022. However, we are open Monday thru Wednesday weekly at our office 111 W. Carlton Avenue, KDH to provide assistance to our homeless community. If you know someone that needs help please let them know to call our office at 252-255-1133. Our ED, Mike Jones will be able to assist them in their immediate needs. I hope you will consider voting for OBX Room in the Inn. We expect to have record numbers of guests this year.

GriffinanRoom in the Inn is preparing for its 15th season serving unhoused men and women on the OBX. New ED, Shari Fiveash, is eager to nurture collaborations to meet growing needs for shelter, meals, and other resources. The population RITI serves is changing as affordable housing becomes even more scarce and wages are often inadequate to meet basic needs for a growing number of our neighbors in the workforce.
This shelter season will run November 1st, 2023-April 29, 2024. The office at 111 W Carlton in KDH is open year-round. 252-255-1133.
