We have good news about December winner Community Care Clinic of Dare, right after this quick update...
What a long strange trip it's been
I've taken this holiday season to reflect on Charitocracy's place in my life. As I crank the wheel again, and another winner is selected, another blog post written, another grant check mailed, it's hard to grasp that we've done this over 100 times now, across Charitocracy USA and Charitocracy OBX. This is a perfect moment to extend my gratitude to each and every one of you who's nominated a cause, cast a vote, and/or generously contributed to our grants. I see you. How about we go another year, shall we?

A few words on Charitocracy
Firstly, for newcomers: here's how it works. Donors pool their monthly contributions, as little as $1. The cause with the most votes each month wins the pot. No matter how much or how little you contribute, each donor at Charitocracy gets one vote. This is where charity meets democracy. So please share this post (see social sharing icons at top of post) and ask your friends to join us and vote! That's how we spread the word and, as a result, grow the monthly pot. The bigger the pot, the bigger our positive impact on the world!
About nominee Community Care Clinic of Dare
Our History
The Community Care Clinic of Dare (CCCD) was founded in 2005 by a partnership of the Albemarle Hospital Foundation, the Dare County Department of Public Health, and the Outer Banks Hospital.
The establishment of the Community Care Clinic of Dare represented a grassroots response to the needs of the uninsured in our community.
The Clinic first opened its doors in Kitty Hawk in May 2005, and our Buxton (now Frisco) location in September of that year. We opened in Manteo in December 2006. In May 2011, the Kitty Hawk and Manteo clinics consolidated, and a new and larger CCCD location was opened in Nags Head at 2808 S. Croatan Hwy, Suite A. In July, 2013, we re-located into our existing facility at 425 Health Center Dr., further improving our ability to serve our patients. Many individuals and organizations have devoted countless hours and numerous financial and material resources to the Clinic since its creation. The Clinic is always in need of additional medical and non-medical volunteers.
